Miriam Altshuler Literary Agency is an independent New York literary agency representing a distinguished list of fiction and nonfiction authors. We specialize in literary and commercial fiction, narrative nonfiction, and children’s books. MALA clients benefit from the personalized attention of an intimate, editorially driven office, and from more than thirty years of publishing experience. We represent a number of award-winning and bestselling authors.

In nonfiction, we are interested in general and narrative nonfiction projects including memoir, psychology, history, science, and biography. In fiction, we are looking for engaging literary fiction and strongly written commercial fiction. For children’s books, we focus on young adult and middle-grade fiction.

Miriam Altshuler Literary Agency has offices in Manhattan and Red Hook, New York, though all queries should be sent to the Red Hook office. (See our Submission Guidelines.) The agency works directly with co-agents in every foreign territory, and works with a number of Hollywood agents regarding dramatic rights.
